At present, when spherical dryers on the market are used to place materials that tend to form lumps, the drying effect is not very obvious. Moreover, they only have two functions: drying and mixing, and cannot complete other operations such as reaction, crystallization, filtration, and washing. Other process operations need to be carried out on other equipment, and the transportation of materials and the guarantee of purity are rather troublesome. To address the aforementioned issues, Wuxi Srui has developed a new type of pharmaceutical and chemical production equipment with a unique spherical structure. This equipment features four functions: reaction crystallization, solid-liquid separation, washing, and drying. It is mainly applied in the production of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and flammable and explosive industries.

The working principle of the spherical three-in-one filtration, washing and drying machine

The multi-functional spherical filtration, washing and drying machine, by ingeniously combining a brand-new spherical container and rotor with a suction filtration device, and adopting an upward-inclined stirring rotor structure, forms a multi-functional integrated machine. It can solve the problems existing in the production of pharmaceuticals and chemicals and is a new type of equipment that meets the requirements of the new GMP.

(1) Feeding: Firstly, the lower hemisphere is rotated and closed with the upper hemisphere through the spherical opening and closing device. After the material (liquid material) is weighed, it enters the equipment through the vacuum suction port.

(2) Crystallization: Start the cylinder to rotate, introduce chilled water into the jacket, activate the vacuum system, and if necessary, activate the crushing system. The material liquid is cooled and crystallized, and the speed can be adjusted according to the actual situation.

(3) Washing: Introduce the washing solution into the suction port. Only turn on the main shaft rotation function. The washing speed can be adjusted according to the actual situation.

(4) Filtration: After the washing is completed, place the filter plates at the bottom, close the vacuum pneumatic valve, and introduce compressed nitrogen into the tank. The nitrogen pressure can be automatically maintained, and the residual liquid is discharged through the residual liquid outlet at the bottom. During the filtration process, opening the ball valve beside the residual liquid port valve can blow the filter cloth in reverse. Vacuum filtration can also be performed.

(5) Crushing and drying: Start the main shaft to rotate, introduce hot water into the jacket, and activate the vacuum system. The material comes into contact with the inner wall of the cylinder, flips and is heated through conduction. The volatile solvent rapidly vaporizes under vacuum conditions and is discharged through the vacuum outlet. If the material has lumps, the crushing system can be activated according to the actual situation, and the speed of the crushing knife is adjustable.

(6) Online cleaning: The cylinder is equipped with a cleaning port in a quick-opening form, with a stopper on the cover. When cleaning, pull out the stopper cover and insert the cleaning ball.

The spherical three-in-one filtration, washing and drying machine introduces many advantages of spherical containers, such as pressure resistance, large surface area and no dead corners in the inner cavity, into the multi-functional integrated machine for material reaction, suction filtration, washing and drying. By ingeniously combining the spherical structure container, rotor and filtration device, and adopting an upward-inclined stirring rotor design, a multi-functional integrated machine is formed.

(5) Tilt the stirring main shaft upwards to move the main shaft seal to the upper semi-circle, free it from the soaking of materials, and solve the problem of material contamination and failure of the shaft seal. The main shaft can rotate independently to achieve the functions of stirring, scraping, mixing and crushing the materials.

(6) Design an openable suction filtration device with the same inner curved surface on the spherical shell, which rotates together with the spherical cavity and can be disassembled and assembled from the outside. It can make the inner surface of the spherical cavity smooth without dead corners.

Technical advantages of spherical three-in-one filtration, washing and drying machine

The main body of the multi-functional spherical filtration, washing and drying machine is divided into an upper sphere and a lower sphere. The upper and lower spheres are connected by hinges. The drying machine body is equipped with a crushing device for crushing and granulating raw materials, a sealing device installed on the output shaft between the upper spheres to prevent raw material leakage, a filtering device for removing processed materials, and a stirring device for stirring, drying, mixing and reaction.

(1) Filter plate: Due to the addition of a filter plate at the bottom, the equipment has gained the functions of reaction, crystallization, filtration and washing.

(2) Online crushing system: It has added a mechanism for online crushing of agglomerated and lumped materials, ensuring the uniformity of the materials and granulation, shortening the drying time and the uniformity of the materials.

(3) Higher effective working volume

Under normal circumstances, the loading capacity of a conventional flat-plate three-in-one only accounts for 30 to 40% of its total volume. The spherical dryer, due to its unique spherical structure, has a relatively large effective working volume, with the maximum effective volume reaching up to 80%.

(4) Mix evenly without any dead corners

The multi-functional spherical filtering, washing and drying machine has consistent stirring force and direction in all directions, so the mixing is symmetrical and the mixing effect is better. However, the conventional flat-plate three-in-one type has uneven stirring in both radial and axial directions, and there are dead corners at the edges and corners, which can easily lead to problems with the uniformity of the mixed product.

(5) Quick and easy cleaning

The structure of the multi-functional spherical filtration, washing and drying machine is simple. Its container is spherical, so it is symmetrical in all three directions from the center to the ball wall. Theoretically, as long as one spray ball is set at the center of the ball, all positions of the dryer can be cleaned thoroughly. In practice, only 2 to 3 spray balls are needed for online cleaning and sterilization.

(6) It can prevent overpressure

As dryers are designed to operate under vacuum, in many cases, due to the risk of thermal decomposition or dust explosion, they are required to be designed to withstand higher pressure. The spherical shape, among geometric bodies, has the largest capacity and the smallest surface, making it an ideal shape for pressure-resistant containers.
