Pharmaceutical activated carbon filtration and washing integrated machine

Medicinal activated carbon is a new type of activated carbon, refined from fruit shells and wood chips. It appears as black fine powder, is non-toxic, odorless, and features a large specific surface area and strong adsorption capacity. Pharmaceutical activated carbon is specifically used for decolorizing solutions and adsorbing impurities and small-molecule heavy metals in the pharmaceutical process. It is the most commonly used method for removing pyrogens. Its most prominent feature is its fast decolorization speed, strong adsorption capacity, well-developed internal pore structure, and large pores. It can effectively adsorb the pigments in the solution, thereby reducing the impurities in the solution without affecting the concentration of other components and the efficacy of the solution. It has now been successfully applied to the decolorization of vitamin C and other raw materials, featuring strong decolorization power and fast filtration speed. It is applicable to the decolorization and refinement of raw materials for medicine, pesticides, and both Chinese and Western medicines. It also has the functions of absorbing intestinal bacteria and detoxification.

The current situation of the traditional phosphoric acid method for the production process of medicinal activated carbon

Activated carbon features well-developed micropores, high specific surface area and strong adsorption capacity. It is a widely used adsorption purification material, extensively applied in fields such as chemical engineering, environmental protection, food and pharmaceuticals, catalyst carriers and electrode materials. At present, the preparation methods of activated carbon are mostly chemical activation methods. The phosphoric acid activation method is a commonly used chemical activation method for preparing activated carbon. Its laboratory and industrial applications have a history of about 30 years. In the traditional phosphoric acid method production process, wood chips are dried and then mixed with phosphoric acid solution for activation without preheating and decomposition treatment. Direct activation is mostly adopted or pretreatment is carried out in the impregnation stage before activation. One of the production processes uses xylose residue as raw material and phosphoric acid as activator. The xylose residue and phosphoric acid with a mass fraction of 60% are uniformly mixed in a solution with an impregnation ratio of 1.3:1 to 3.0:1. After pretreatment by heating at 180 to 290℃, it is then activated in an activation device at an activation temperature of 320 to 530℃. The activation time is 90 to 120 minutes. After cooling to room temperature, cleaning, drying, crushing and sieving, activated carbon is obtained.

Although the traditional phosphoric acid method for pharmaceutical activated carbon can prepare activated carbon with better performance, it cannot avoid the secondary pollution caused by the use of chemical agents and traditional production. Therefore, seeking new production and preparation methods to improve the performance of activated carbon and reduce secondary pollution generated during the production process is currently a research hotspot for activated carbon manufacturers.

Research on the High-Efficiency Rinsing and Refining Production Process of Pharmaceutical Activated Carbon by Phosphoric Acid Method

The existing activated carbon washing equipment mostly adopts the soaking mode. The contact area of activated carbon washing is small, resulting in insufficient washing, low recovery rate of phosphoric acid, and at the same time, the activated carbon is not washed clean enough, with high impurity content. The cylindrical and conical filter washing and drying machine adopts spiral stirring blades, which can thoroughly stir the activated carbon, increase the contact area between the activated carbon and the washing water, and can quickly and efficiently wash the activated carbon, improve the washing efficiency, enhance the quality of the activated carbon, and at the same time save water resources.

The high-efficiency rinsing and refining production process of pharmaceutical activated carbon by phosphoric acid method features low phosphoric acid production and energy consumption, simple operation, economy and environmental protection.

(2) As the wood tar partially decomposes and is released during the preheating decomposition process, it avoids the mixture of wood tar in the recovered phosphoric acid solution, which is conducive to the recycling of phosphoric acid and reduces the cost of phosphoric acid recovery.

(3) Under the same technological conditions, the adsorption efficiency of activated carbon has been enhanced, thereby reducing the manufacturing cost of activated carbon and the pollution generated during the production process.

(4) The activated powdered carbon produced by the cylindrical and conical filter washing and drying machine features strong adsorption capacity, excellent decolorization effect, fast filtration speed and low ash content. It can be applied in fields such as liquid refining, decolorization, purification and sewage treatment.

The production process steps for rinsing and refining medicinal activated carbon

(1) Feeding steps after activation of medicinal activated carbon

The upper part of the tank is equipped with an activated carbon inlet. The raw activated carbon is connected to the activated carbon inlet through a conveying device and then conveyed into the tank.

(2) The step of feeding rinsing solution into the cylindrical cone-type filter washing and drying machine

On the other side of the upper part of the tank, there are an inlet for washing water and an inlet for acid solution. Acid water for washing is put in through the acid solution inlet, and the amount of acid water used is controlled by a water level gauge.

(3) Efficient washing steps of the cylindrical conical filter washing and drying machine

The rotating shaft is vertically set in the tank. The upper end of the rotating shaft extends out of the tank and is connected to the motor. The motor drives the rotating shaft to rotate, and thus the stirring blades rotate along with the rotating shaft. The spiral stirring blades stir the cleaning liquid from bottom to top, allowing the activated carbon to be fully dispersed in the acid water. After stirring for 3 to 5 minutes, it is reversed and stirred for another 3 to 5 minutes, then reversed again. This process is repeated in sequence. Make full contact with activated carbon;

(4) High-efficiency filtration steps of the cylindrical and conical filter washing and drying machine

At the bottom of the tank, there is an acid liquid discharge port, and at the top of the tank, there is an air pressurization valve. When the Baume degree of the washing acid water meets the requirements, the stirring is turned off, the acid liquid discharge port is opened, and the air pressurization valve 8 is opened to pressurize. The filtrate passes through the filter screen baffle and enters the recovery bucket through the acid liquid discharge port.

(5) Refining and drying steps of the cylindrical and conical filter washing and drying machine

Finally, clean washing water is introduced, and the stirring blades are turned on to mix the water and activated carbon evenly. Then, the activated carbon outlet at the bottom of the tank is opened, and the washing water and activated carbon are discharged together for filtration and drying to obtain activated carbon.
